I’m quite enjoying all of the end of the year summaries that are going around. It’s a great way to catch up on fic I’d either missed reading or missed rec’ing the first time around. This would be an excellent case in point. It’s a short future fic that has a wonderfully wry sense of humor and appealing characterizations of both Snape and Harry. I’m amazed that I can be plopped down in an established relationship fic featuring Snape and Harry and actually buy it, but I do here. This version of Snape as an obsessive, elitist, competitive auction house junkie simply fits the man to a ‘T’. Well, it does as long as the items up for auction are ‘cursed artefacts’!
Just a massively fun read that’s sweet without being sappy. It’s a nice break from all the angst, and the writing in this one has been polished to perfection. Highly rec’ed when you’re in the mood to smile.
A sudden thought occurred to Harry. “Severus. If you gave me a cursed object for Christmas—you’d tell me, right?”
“Harry. You know I would never respect you if you couldn’t tell it was cursed in the first place.”
He launched into the air. Harry stared after him a moment before following. That was not the most reassuring answer.
